Sending a DOGE-1 satellite to the moon, the first commercial lunar mission entirely paid for in Dogecoin, will take place November 15-20, 2023. This event is the result of a collaboration between Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC), SpaceX, Intuitive Machines and NASA that was first announced in May 2021.

The mission will use a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, part of the Nova-C/IM-1 mission jointly coordinated by Intuitive Machines and NASA. The Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket will carry DOGE-1 and IM-1/Nova-C payloads from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, according to Spacetvnet.

Houston-based Intuitive Machines will perform the commercial delivery of Lunar Payload Services, bringing NASA’s collection of robotic equipment to the lunar surface. One of the highlights of the DOGE-1 mission is a 40-kilogram cubic satellite placed in orbit around the moon. This satellite is equipped with sensors and a camera to collect valuable lunar-spatial data.
